The Czech Gas Union (CGU) was founded by gas distribution companies and the state enterprise Český plynárenský podnik, s.p. - o.z. Transgas in 1994, as an independent and voluntary professional organisation of corporate bodies.

In the first decade of its existence, CGU actively helped to improve business environment in gas industry in the Czech Republic and promote natural gas as a reliable and environment-friendly fuel to the Czech public.
